What our customers say about our campervan rentals in Grand Canyon National Park
Why Rent a campervan or RV for the Grand Canyon – Expert Advice
“Timing your Grand Canyon visit can make a big difference in your experience. Spring and fall are my top picks – the weather is mild, the views are clear, and you’ll find fewer crowds on the roads and trails. Summer can get extremely hot, especially around midday, so early morning and late afternoon drives are more comfortable and offer the best light for photography. If you’re driving a campervan, keep in mind that roads within the park can be narrow and winding, so take it slow and make use of designated RV parking areas near major viewpoints. Always carry extra water and snacks, as services can be limited once you’re inside the park. Whether you’re staying one night or several, the Grand Canyon rewards those who take their time to explore – every viewpoint reveals a new layer of color, texture, and history.” – Bastian Graf, Global Sales & Marketing Manager, Travellers Autobarn
How Much Does it Cost to Rent a Campervan near Grand Canyon National Park?
Several factors can influence the cost of renting a campervan, including the type of vehicle you choose, the length of your rental, and overall travel demand at the time.
In Las Vegas, the low season runs from November to April, making it a great time to secure lower rental rates compared to the busier May to October period. Plus, the longer you rent, the more you save – our rates are automatically discounted for extended hires. You’ll enjoy better daily rates when renting for 7+, 14+, 21+ or 34+ days, compared to a short 7-day trip.
Looking for the best value? Our Minivan and Chubby Camper are the most budget-friendly options. If you’re after newer vehicles with extra comfort and features, consider the Beeva Camper, Kuga Campervan, or Hi5 Campervan – priced slightly higher to reflect their modern design and added conveniences.
And if you’re worried about mileage – don’t be! Every Travellers Autobarn rental includes unlimited miles, so you’re free to explore as far as the road takes you.

Driving Tips for Driving Your Campervan or RV in Grand Canyon National Park
Stay Hydrated and Protect Yourself from the Sun
The Grand Canyon region gets seriously hot and dry, especially in summer. Always carry more water than you think you’ll need and make sure everyone in your group is sipping regularly. A good hat, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen will make your journey much more comfortable, especially if you plan to hop out for sightseeing or short hikes along the way.
Time Your Drives to Avoid Heavy Traffic
The South Rim in particular can get busy during peak daylight hours. If you can, set off early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the longest entry lines and find parking more easily. Not only does this help with crowds, but you’ll also get softer light for photos and cooler temperatures for exploring.
Adjust Your Speed for a Larger Vehicle
Campervans and RVs handle differently than standard cars. They’re heavier, taller, and take longer to brake. With this in mind, give yourself more space between vehicles, especially on winding canyon roads and be mindful of posted speed limits within the park, which are often lower than on highways.
Make Use of Designated RV Parking Areas
Parking can be tricky in busy sections of the park, but there are designated spots specifically for larger vehicles. These areas tend to be more level, have more space for maneuvering, and are close to major viewpoints or shuttle stops, so you can park once and explore without moving the vehicle constantly.
Keep an Eye on Weather Conditions
The Grand Canyon’s weather can change quickly, especially during monsoon season in late summer, when flash floods are possible. Before setting off each day, check the forecast and listen to local alerts. In winter, icy conditions can appear on shaded roads, so drive cautiously and keep chains handy if snow is in the forecast.
Must See Destinations from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon National Park
Hoover Dam
Just 35 minutes from Las Vegas, the Hoover Dam is a legendary feat of engineering and the perfect first stop. Take in views of the massive concrete wall holding back the Colorado River, walk across the top for sweeping panoramas, or snap a photo from the nearby Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.
NEARBY CAMPGROUNDS
- Canyon Trail RV Park: Located just 5 minutes from Boulder City, this park offers full hookups, free WiFi, laundry facilities, and clean restrooms. The paved, level sites also make parking your campervan super easy, and you’re close enough to Hoover Dam to beat the crowds in the morning.
- Lake Mead RV Village: Sitting right on the shores of Lake Mead, this campground combines full hookups with amazing views across the water. Guests can enjoy picnic areas, direct lake access, and a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for watching desert sunsets after a day of sightseeing.
Lake Mead Overlook
Right after Hoover Dam, you’ll pass viewpoints offering spectacular views of Lake Mead. It might only be a short drive (5 minutes) along the road, but the Lake Mead Overlook is more than worth a short pause to soak in the glittering expanse of water set against rugged desert mountains.
NEARBY CAMPGROUNDS
- Canyon Trail RV Park: As described earlier, this is great all-rounder, that offers full hookups, hot showers, and a small store for road trip essentials. Its location also makes it a convenient base for exploring both Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.
- Lake Mead RV Village: Ideal if you want to stay right by the water, this campground has large, level sites that are great for bigger rigs, laundry services, and shaded picnic tables.
Chloride, Arizona
This small former mining town is an authentic taste of old Arizona. With its murals, antique shops, and Wild West charm, Chloride makes a fun cultural stop before you hit the open highway again.
NEARBY CAMPGROUNDS
- Chloride Western RV Park: A no-frills park that offers water and electric hookups, hot showers, and plenty of space to stretch out. Its location right in town also makes it easy to stroll over to see Chloride’s murals and soak up the old-west vibes.
- Canyon Trail RV Park: We’re here again, mainly because it’s one of the few suitable RV parks in the area. That being said, it’s also one of the best, and it offers full hookups, laundry, and pet-friendly sites, giving you a few more amenities without straying far from the route.
Kingman, Arizona
Roughly halfway to the Grand Canyon, Kingman is your next stop along historic Route 66. Here you can visit the Route 66 Museum, grab a meal at a retro diner, or simply stretch your legs before tackling the next leg of your drive.
NEARBY CAMPGROUNDS
- Kingman KOA Journey: A KOA with full hookups, a seasonal pool, a dog park, and a camp store. The pull-through sites make setup quick and easy, too, which is great if you’re only staying a night before hitting the road again.
- Sunrise RV Park: This smaller, quiet park offers full hookups, cable TV, and spotless restrooms. It’s conveniently located near Route 66 attractions, too, and it makes for a restful overnight stay.
Williams
Your last major stop before the park entrance, Williams blends Route 66 nostalgia with small-town charm. It’s a great place to refuel, pick up souvenirs, and, if you have extra time, hop on the Grand Canyon Railway for a scenic ride straight to the South Rim.
NEARBY CAMPGROUNDS
- Grand Canyon Railway RV Park: Located right next to the railway depot, this full-service park offers paved sites, showers, laundry, WiFi, and even access to a pool and hot tub at the adjacent hotel. You can also catch the train straight to the canyon from the RV park without having to move your campervan.
- Railside RV Ranch: This park offers full hookups, level sites, a pet area, and even a free continental breakfast, helping you save a little on your travel budget! It’s also just 5 minutes from downtown Williams, giving you the perfect place to rest up before heading into the park.
